The police arrested public welfare workers, who were, as a demonstration, wearing ‘komanam’ and begging for jobs in Tanjore. During the arrest, clashes broke out between the protestors and the police.
13,500 public welfare workers were removed from their jobs when the AIADMK government came to power. The workers, who had been involved in various protests demanding for jobs, have recently been involved in demonstrations begging for jobs.
Meanwhile, 67 public welfare workers, including 28 women were involved in a demonstration, begging for jobs in the shops out the Tanjore railway station. The men had been wearing komanam.
As the police tried to stop the protestors, conflicts and arguments broke out between them. Later, the protestors rolled on the road.
The protestors were carried away by the police and arrested. The women were also forcibly taken into vans.
